Things you should not do immediately after waking up
There is no particular morning routine that suits everyone. Some people like reading the newspaper, some like doing exercise, while some may just like drinking warm water, or just dancing on your favourite beat. There are certain morning mistakes, if you are making that can disturb your rest of your day.
So check out this list, so you can avoid doing mistake and have a productive day ahead.
1. Snoozing your alarm button
You snooze off the alarm button? Putting it back to have a sleep for 5- 10 minutes more? When you snooze the alarm button, you yourself back to deep sleep, which results in waking up groggy instead of fresh. It’s better to sleep a little earlier, so to have enough sleep to wake up on your first alarm.
2. Stay curled up
After waking up, you just lie in bed. Make use of it, especially physically, do some stretching or physical activity, rather than just sleeping.
3. Check your phone
If you sleep near your phone, it’s easy to roll over and start checking it up.
If so, then just don’t do it. Checking your phone after waking up, make your eyesight weak and you won’t recover fully. All that can be done later on, instead of that do other activity that more aligned with your true need.
4. Leaving bed unmade
Don’t make your own bed or leave it for some else to make. It is totally a wrong behaviour. Making your own bed, marks the sign of increasing your productivity rest of the day, and this way you can a sure of doing your first morning task right.
5. Drinking coffee
If you think you cannot function without having a cup of coffee. Think before doing it. Your body produces higher amounts of the stress hormone cortisol, which regulates energy, between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. If you consume caffeine in between then, your body will start producing less cortisol in the early morning — meaning you’ll be have less energy. So, to have your morning coffee, drink after 9:30 a.m.
6. Get ready in the dark
Keeping the shades down might seem like a softer way to get ready for your day, but getting ready in dark could signal your body that it’s still night time and make you feel more groggier. Always get ready in bright light, which also help you to freshen up even more.
7. Incorporating your activities
You have a habit of drinking water after waking up, then listening to your music, wasting time on deciding clothes and then getting ready. These activities are fine, but try to incorporate them. Drink water, while listening music, try to decide your clothes in night to save time, get ready while having your calls and check your mails while on your way to work place.
This is because scientists say our willpower is limited, using it early in a day, make it less for the rest of the day. Instead, let your brain run on automatic in the morning and conserve your mental resources when you really need them.
